The power of community

Why we exist

People are living longer and healthier lives than ever, but at some point many of us will need care. We believe software can help in two ways: by making care provision more efficient, and by ensuring its quality.

We also believe in the power of community, and there is no better example of what collaboration can achieve than open source software. Plait is built on open source technologies, and we plan to open-source Plait itself in time.

As a community interest company, anything we make is reinvested in our products and services or donated to organisations in the care sector. So far, our profits have gone to a local dementia charity.

Our founder

Mark Chapman has worked in social care technology since 1987, founding and leading two successful businesses, one of which featured in the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 in consecutive years. He also co-managed a domiciliary care provider for several years.

Mark’s dedication to social care is widely recognised, and in 2008 he was made a Fellow of the RSA. He founded ReallyCare to bring care providers the kind of open, specialist software that health has benefited from for years.
